Aston Villa has acquired forward Lewis Dobbin from Everton for an undisclosed sum.

This signing follows midfielder Tim Iroegbunam’s move in the opposite direction, reportedly for £9m.

Dobbin, aged 21, has been with Everton since he was 11 years old and has accumulated 20 senior appearances for the club, scoring once.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Lewis for his contribution to Everton, from his journey through our academy to senior team, and we wish him all the best for the future,” said an Everton statement.

Villa is also on the verge of selling 18-year-old attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman to Chelsea for a reported £19m.

Villa co-owner Nassef Sawiris recently criticized the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, stating that they “do not make sense and are not good for football.”

Villa had voted against the introduction of these rules, known as PSR, which came into effect in 2015-16. These regulations allow top-flight clubs to incur losses of up to £105m over a three-year period.
