Aston Villa sign forward Nunes for club record £250k fee

Aston Villa have announced the signing of Brazil international and Levante forward Gabi Nunes for a club record fee.

Nunes, who joins on a two-year deal with an option for a third year, was acquired for a release clause of 300,000 euros (£250,000).

The 27-year-old forward, who has earned 22 caps for Brazil, was part of the squad that secured a silver medal at the recent Olympic Games in Paris.

Nunes becomes Villa’s eighth signing of the summer, reflecting the club’s significant investment under new manager Robert de Pauw.

This move signifies Villa’s ambition to challenge the WSL’s traditional top four—Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Nunes’ transfer is among the most significant in WSL history, comparable to Chelsea’s British record signing of Mayra Ramirez for £384,000 and Jill Roord’s transfer to Manchester City for over £300,000 in 2023.

The WSL transfer window will close on Friday, 13 September at 23:00 BST.
