Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has donated football boots to 350 young footballers participating in the Kwara Kiddies League through his foundation, reinforcing his commitment to grassroots football development.

The donation is intended to equip the youngsters with the necessary resources to improve their skills and pursue their dreams of becoming professional footballers.

The presentation ceremony, held on Saturday, was attended by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Mogaji, who praised the striker for his continued support for youth football.

Mogaji, who participated in distributing the boots, described Awoniyi as a dedicated supporter of grassroots sports development. He emphasised the need to provide young players with the equipment and opportunities required to nurture their talents.

He also encouraged more individuals to invest in grassroots sports, noting that initiatives like Awoniyi’s were vital to establishing a sustainable football development system in the state. He expressed hope that the striker’s gesture would motivate other sports personalities to support emerging talents in their communities.

Speaking at the event, Kwara Kiddies League Chief Operating Officer Ibrahim Jatto expressed appreciation to the Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation on behalf of the competition’s more than 500 young participants.

Jatto disclosed that the foundation had consistently supported the league over the years by providing playing kits, meals and cash prizes worth millions of naira for outstanding players.

He noted that the latest donation would further motivate the youngsters, many of whom aspire to pursue professional football careers.

Jatto also highlighted the league’s efforts to increase players’ exposure through subscriptions to Wyscout and Eyeball, football scouting and analysis platforms that help showcase their performances to a wider audience.

“With increased visibility through our league’s subscriptions on Wyscout and Eyeball, your continued support is helping create greater opportunities for these young talents,” he said.

Awoniyi, who serves as chairman of the Kwara Kiddies League, has continued to promote grassroots football through initiatives aimed at providing young players with the resources and opportunities to fulfil their potential.

His latest contribution further strengthens the foundation’s efforts to nurture emerging football talents and advance youth football development in Kwara State.
