Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi is “fine” after receiving 10 stitches to close a facial cut, according to manager Hansi Flick.
The 17-year-old Spaniard was substituted in the 67th minute during Barcelona’s 5-2 Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday, following a collision with Uros Spajic’s studs while heading a corner clear.
Cubarsi, who debuted for Barcelona at 16, required medical attention on the pitch for a bloodied face and an open wound before his substitution.
Flick said after the victory: “He needed stitches, but he’s fine.”
The club later posted a photo of a smiling Cubarsi with the caption: “I’m OK.”
