Barcelona player suffers fresh injury blow
Barcelona has been dealt another injury setback as first-team player Lamine Yamal is sidelined with an injury.
The club confirmed the news in a statement on their website on Monday.
The 17-year-old Spain winger sustained the injury during Barcelona’s 1-0 La Liga loss to CD Leganés on Sunday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Yamal took a blow to the ankle during the match and was substituted in the 75th minute, with Gavi coming on in his place.
Medical tests conducted on Monday morning revealed a grade 1 sprain of the anterior tibiofibular ligament.
As a result, Yamal is expected to be out of action for 3 to 4 weeks, adding to the challenges for Hansi Flick’s squad.
