Young Barcelona talent Lamine Yamal is on the verge of achieving another significant milestone in his career, as Barcelona gets ready to welcome their arch-rivals Real Madrid for the first El Clasico of the 2023/24 season.
The La Masia graduate is already having a record-breaking season, having become Barcelona’s youngest-ever goal scorer and still holding the record as the youngest starter for both the club and the Spanish national team.
According to Football Espana, if selected by Xavi Hernandes for the match against Real Madrid on Saturday, October 28, Yamal, at the age of 16 years and 107 days, will become the youngest player to feature in an El Clasico.
This achievement would surpass the previous record held by Vicente Martinez, dating back to 1941 when he played for Barcelona against Real Madrid at the age of 16 years and 278 days.
Yamal has proven to be an exceptional asset to the Barcelona squad this season, earning his spot in the first team following the departure of Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.
