Barcelona are set to officially announce a new long-term contract for their captain, Raphinha, on Thursday, extending the Brazilian forward’s stay at the club until June 30, 2030.
The agreement was signed in early October, with all the terms approved by the player, his representatives and the club.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a post on X on Wednesday, “Barcelona, set to unveil Raphinha’s new deal until June 2030 after documents were already signed early October.
“All set also with Raphinha’s new agents to announce and confirm a longer deal for the captain.”
The new agreement extends Raphinha’s previous contract, which was due to expire in 2028, by another two years.
Barcelona sporting director Deco had first confirmed an agreement in principle during the club’s general assembly in mid-September, saying the forward would remain at the club for another four years.
The remaining administrative procedures are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, with Raphinha’s new representatives also involved in finalising the extended commitment.
The contract extension reflects the Brazilian’s importance to Barcelona under manager Hansi Flick.
The 29-year-old, who was named club captain, has enjoyed an impressive season, making significant contributions in both La Liga and the Champions League.
His consistent performances, leadership qualities and goalscoring contributions have made retaining his services a priority for the Catalan club.
Raphinha joined Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022 and has gradually established himself as one of the team’s key players.
The new deal will keep him at the club until 2030, ensuring continuity in the team’s attack and dressing room as Barcelona continue their development under Flick.
