Bayern Munich held to draw by Union Berlin in Bundesliga

Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Union Berlin, marking their second consecutive league game without a victory.

Leroy Sane appeared to have secured all three points for Bayern in the 75th minute, finishing off a clever pass from Michael Olise, who set up Josip Stanisic to deliver a precise cutback.

However, Union Berlin responded just eight minutes later when Benedict Hollerbach capitalized on a spilled cross by 21-year-old goalkeeper Jonas Urbig to equalize.

The result lifts Union seven points clear of the relegation play-off spot, while Bayern remains vulnerable at the top.

Bayer Leverkusen has the opportunity to close the gap to six points if they defeat Stuttgart on Sunday evening.

Bayern had looked to recover from their shock 3-1 defeat to Bochum on their 125th anniversary last weekend, especially after eliminating Leverkusen from the Champions League midweek.

However, Vincent Kompany’s side now faces further scrutiny as the Bundesliga title race heats up.
