Bayern Munich have opened discussions with Harry Kane regarding a possible extension of his contract, the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has confirmed.

The England skipper joined the Bundesliga giants from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023, signing a four-year contract valued at an initial €100m (£86.4m).

Kane has been outstanding since his move to Munich, recording 119 goals and 30 assists in 126 matches in all competitions.

Speaking on Tuesday, BBC Sport reported that Eberl said at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt, “We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking.”

“Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”

In October, Kane stated that he “could definitely” imagine remaining at Bayern, adding that his ambition to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit”.

So far this season, the striker has netted 34 goals in 30 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s team, including 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches, as he targets former Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single league season.

Kane has also contributed to Bayern finishing second in their Champions League group, with one match still to be played.

“Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich.

“He and his family are settled in. Therefore, we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush,” Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said.
