Belgium goalkeeper Courtois ruled out of Euro 2024

Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will not participate in Euro 2024 due to a knee ligament injury, even though he may be fit to return for Real Madrid before the season ends.

Courtois, aged 31, has been sidelined for the entire season and underwent an additional knee surgery in March following a complication.

While there’s a possibility of him returning to play for Real Madrid before the season concludes, Belgium’s coach Domenico Tedesco has confirmed that Courtois will not be considered for the Euro 2024 squad.

Courtois, who has earned 102 caps for Belgium, stated in December that he would not fully recover in time to compete in the tournament, which will take place in Germany this coming June and July.

“On this topic, everything has already been said. I don’t want a tit-for-tat situation,” Tedesco told German media on Tuesday.

“We are focusing on players who are in good shape.”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said he hopes to have Courtois back for Saturday’s La Liga game against Cadiz.
