Karim Benzema scored a late goal on Wednesday as Real Madrid sent Liverpool out of the Champions League, winning 6-2 on aggregate.

The first leg in England had ended 5-2 in favour of Madrid, while the second leg produced only a goal by the French striker.

After a goalless first half, Madrid eventually scored on 78 minutes through Benzema. Vinicius Junior fed Benzema, who tapped the ball into an empty net.

Earlier, a fine pass found Federico Valverde in space inside the box, he looked up and drilled a low shot towards the middle of the goal, but the Alisson reacted superbly to deny him.

On 69 minutes, Benzema got on the end of a pass from Vinicius Junior inside the box and quickly shot the ball, but the effort went inches over the bar.
On added time, Rodrygo had an effort from inside the box but it was brilliantly blocked.
