Bournemouth agree club record deal for Evanilson

Bournemouth have agreed to a club record £40.2 million deal to sign Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto.

The initial payment is £31.7 million, with an additional £8.5 million contingent on certain performance clauses being met.

The Cherries had also been considering Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.

However, sources confirm that a bid for Evanilson has been accepted, and the 24-year-old is expected to fly in for a medical later today.

Last month, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley told BBC Sport that they had contingency plans in place in case Dominic Solanke’s release clause was triggered. Solanke joined Tottenham last week in a deal worth up to £65 million.

Evanilson, who was called up to the Brazil squad for this summer’s Copa America and earned his first two caps this year, joined Porto in 2020 and scored 17 goals last season across the Portuguese league and Champions League.

Bournemouth’s previous record signing was Jefferson Lerma, who cost £25 million when he joined from Spanish side Levante in 2018.
