Bournemouth stun Man City with historic win

Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson found the net as Bournemouth secured their first-ever victory over Manchester City at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries, riding high after collecting four points in recent games against Aston Villa and Arsenal, began the match with energy and confidence.

Just two minutes in, Ederson was forced into a double save to deny both Semenyo and Justin Kluivert.

Bournemouth’s aggressive start paid off in the ninth minute when Milos Kerkez’s cut-back from the byline was slotted in by Semenyo.

City struggled to create any shots on target in a frustrating first half.

Bournemouth emerged for the second half with renewed confidence and nearly doubled their lead within a minute, but Ederson reacted swiftly to block Evanilson’s shot.

Evanilson made good on his next chance, sliding to meet Kerkez’s low cross and finding the bottom corner.

The hosts missed a chance to go up by three shortly after when Adam Smith, with an open goal, fired over the bar following Marcus Tavernier’s shot hitting the post.

City finally managed an attempt on target in the 80th minute, though Erling Haaland’s volley lacked power.

Two minutes later, Josko Gvardiol headed past Mark Travers, giving City hope, but the reigning Premier League champions couldn’t find an equalizer.

With this defeat, City drops to second as Liverpool came from behind to beat Brighton, while Bournemouth climbs to eighth.
