On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari praised Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their “resilience and professionalism” against the Moroccan female national football team in the second semi-final of the African Women’s Cup of Nations.
According to a statement signed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, titled ‘Thank you for the gallant display, President Buhari to Super Falcons,’
President Buhari, according to Adesina, is encouraged by the girls’ tenacity, resilience, and professionalism, despite playing with two players down in front of a home crowd.
‘‘Although many will be disappointed with the Moroccan victory on penalties, there are many positive outcomes for the Nigerian team to take home and prepare better for the next tournament,’’ the President said.
He also believes that great things are expected from this team and like all Nigerians; he will be cheering them on at future outings.
The Super Falcons, who were on their way to clinching the African title for the 11th time, lost to their host, Morocco, in a penalty knockout that ended 5-4.
