German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have outlined why they moved to sign Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, identifying him as an integral part of the club’s long-term project.
The Bundesliga side secured the services of the Super Eagles star from Belgian champions Club Brugge, with the 25-year-old signing a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2031.
Reacting after the transfer was announced on the club’s X handle on Sunday, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche explained that Onyedika’s attributes made him the perfect addition to the team.
“Raphael Onyedika impresses us not only with his robustness and strategic understanding of the game, but above all with his exceptional consistency. He has been a regular starter for several years and has celebrated numerous titles in Belgium,” Krösche told the club’s official website.
The Frankfurt sporting director further pointed to the midfielder’s international exposure and room for improvement.
“Furthermore, he possesses valuable international experience. At 25 years old, he still has great potential for development and is also an important building block for the structure of our squad,” he added.
Onyedika heads to Germany following a trophy-laden stint with Club Brugge, where he claimed two Belgian league titles, the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup. Earlier in his career, he also won the Danish Cup with FC Midtjylland before making the switch to Belgium.
The transfer represents another significant milestone in the Nigerian international’s career as he gears up for his debut campaign in the Bundesliga.
