Cameroon in great comeback to beat Burkina Faso for AFCON Bronze

Host Cameroon came back from three goals down to beat Burkina Faso on penalty shootout to claim AFCON Bronze medal at home.

The match ended 3-3 on duration time and penalty shootouts came on immediately. Cameroon won 5-3 in the shootout to emerge the third best place team at AFCON.

The Stallions of Burkina Faso opened scoring on 24 minutes through Steeve Yago.

Issa Kabore sent a precise lofted cross into the box, as Yago latched on to it and finished with a quick shot into the top of the net. The goalkeeper had no chance.

Burkina Faso doubled their lead on 43 minutes from Andre Onana’s own goal.

Andre Onana scored an unfortunate own goal after deflecting the ball into his own net.

It was 3-0 for the Stallions on 49 minutes. Bertrand Traore sent a long raking pass onto the head of Djibril Ouattara, who made no mistake from close in and sent the ball into the right side of the goal.

The Indomitable Lions reduced the tally on 71 minutes after Stephane Bahoken fired the rebound into the middle of the goal after the ball broke to him in the box.

With five minutes to duration time, Cameroon scored their second goal.

A corner was whipped in and Vincent Aboubakar was in the right place at the right time, planting his header perfectly into the left side of the goal to make it 3-2.

Two minutes later, Aboubakar equalised for Cameroon, firing the rebound into the bottom left corner after the ball broke to him in the box.
