Cesc Fabregas compares Man Utd star Rasmus Hojlund to Ruud van Nistelrooy

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has praised Manchester United’s in-form striker Rasmus Hojlund, likening his finishing technique to that of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 21-year-old recently made history in the Premier League by becoming the youngest player ever to score in six consecutive games.

Hojlund’s impressive performance coincides with winger Alejandro Garnacho’s recent role on the right flank. This adjustment has provided United with better attacking balance, especially as we’ve been awaiting Antony’s resurgence, reminiscent of his form under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Fabregas discussed Hojlund’s remarkable form and skill on a recent podcast, which is worth checking out.

Throughout his career, the former Spain international was linked with a move to Old Trafford, but a transfer never materialized, perhaps owing to David Moyes.

“He attacks the box really well, he’s very smart,” said Fabregas, as per The Planet Premier League podcast with Nedum Onouha.

“He’s a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher when he gets his confidence. I believe he can be a really top striker for United in the future.

“When you have this plus a very good player one-on-one (Garnacho) who is making crosses all the time, you will always get the best out of him.”

Former Man City defender Onouha added: “He looked like a player that has a lot of belief in himself, knows they can score goals, and knows they’re an important part of how the team works.

“I think earlier in the season, through injuries, he didn’t play as much as he’d like to, bearing in mind he’s a young player, but he looks good.

“He has a real value in there. He’s playing to his strengths, using his strengths and he’s probably believing every time he steps on the field he’s going to score.”
