Champions League: Rangers to meet Dinamo Kyiv or Partizan Belgrade

Rangers will face either Dinamo Kyiv or Partizan Belgrade in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

The winner will advance to the play-off stage, with a spot in the new 36-team league format at stake.

The two legs are scheduled for August 6/7 and August 13, with Rangers playing away first. The draw for the play-off round will occur on August 5.

If Rangers lose this tie or in the play-off round, they will enter the Europa League group stage.

Dinamo Kyiv will host Partizan for the first leg of their second qualifying round tie on Tuesday, with the return leg taking place in Serbia eight days later. Dinamo Kyiv will play their home match in Lublin, Poland.

This will be the fourth consecutive season that Rangers have started in the third qualifying round of the competition. Last season, they defeated Servette but lost to PSV Eindhoven in the play-off round, ultimately reaching the round of 16 in the Europa League.

Like Rangers, both Dinamo Kyiv and Partizan were runners-up in their leagues last season.

Kilmarnock and St Mirren will find out their potential opponents at a later date.
