Chelsea are poised to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer.

The Blues are confident of finalizing a long-term deal with the 26-year-old, who is scheduled for a medical next week.

Adarabioyo is reportedly making the move to compete in European competitions.

Newcastle and Manchester United were also said to be interested in the player.

The former Manchester City academy centre-back turned down an offer to become one of Fulham’s highest-paid players in April.

Chelsea aims for Adarabioyo to enhance their performance in both attacking and defensive set-pieces, especially with coach Bernardo Cueva joining from Brentford for £750,000 to head a set-piece department.

Adarabioyo’s potential signing could hasten the departure of Chelsea academy defender Trevoh Chalobah, who is available for sale this summer with interest from Manchester United.

Additionally, Thiago Silva, 39, is set to leave Chelsea to rejoin Brazilian club Fluminense this summer.
