Chelsea earn dominant win over 10-man Barcelona

Chelsea’s young wide attacker outperformed Barcelona’s highly rated teenage forward in a spectacular 3–0 victory at Stamford Bridge, achieved after the visitors were reduced to ten players in their Champions League meeting.

The 18-year-old standout scored a brilliant second goal shortly after the Catalan side lost their captain to a second yellow card just before halftime.

By that point, the home team were already ahead thanks to an own goal from a Barcelona defender, and a substitute later ended an 11-match scoreless run by adding the final strike of the night.

Still, it was the Chelsea youngster who dominated the spotlight over his visiting counterpart in a showdown between two of the globe’s most exciting teenage attackers.

His defining moment came when he dribbled past one defender, shrugged off another, and fired past the away goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s young star was withdrawn in the 80th minute to boos from the home supporters.

Moments afterward, Chelsea’s manager substituted his own teenage sensation to loud applause.

This capped a night to remember for the London club, who were without their influential forward due to injury.

Chelsea merited their early advantage through an inventive short-corner routine featuring their young winger, a fellow attacker, and their left-back, which ended with a deflection off a Barcelona player for the opener.

Earlier, their midfielder had two set-piece strikes disallowed for offside, while their right-back forced two saves from distance and their forward missed a clear chance on goal.

Barcelona wasted their best opportunity before the break when a former Manchester City attacker steered a close-range shot wide, later being replaced at halftime by a loanee from Manchester United.

But the substitute could not shift the momentum. Chelsea doubled their lead through their teenage winger’s solo effort, and their young striker added a third with a composed finish after a precise through ball and cutback.

The win moved Chelsea into the top eight of the expanded league phase, a position that would allow them to bypass an additional play-off round in February if maintained, with three matches still remaining.
