Chelsea have extended Nicolas Jackson’s contract by two years, keeping him at the club until 2033.

This extension secures the Senegalese striker’s future with the Blues for a total of nine years, demonstrating their confidence in the £32 million acquisition from Villarreal last summer.

Jackson, who netted 14 goals in the Premier League last season, has continued his impressive form, scoring eight goals in his last eight matches, including a goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about Jackson’s deal, manager Enzo Maresca said after the match: “The only thing I know is he’s signing a new contract – I don’t know how many years.

“I’m very happy. Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us, on and off the ball. He scored already two goals [this season]. He scored again today. He had another two chances but we are happy with him.”

On whether the extension shows faith in Jackson after the club’s summer pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Maresca said: “I have faith, and the club also, even before. Not because we are looking for another striker; not that we don’t trust Nicolas. We trust Nicolas.

“I said last week when the transfer window was still open – he is doing fantastic with us. I am very happy with him.”

The contract extension for Nicolas Jackson comes on the heels of a similar two-year renewal for Cole Palmer, which also extends his contract until 2033.

So far this season, Chelsea have won one match, drawn one, and lost one of their first three league games.
