AC Milan secured a loan deal for Chelsea forward Joao Felix as part of a flurry of four late signings in the winter transfer window, aiming to reinvigorate their season.

In a statement, Milan confirmed that Portugal international Felix, who managed just one league goal for Chelsea after arriving from Atletico Madrid in the summer, “has signed a contract with the club lasting until 30 June 2025.”

While the deal was officially announced on Tuesday, Milan ensured all necessary paperwork was filed before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata departed Serie A on loan to Galatasaray over the weekend, prompting Milan to strengthen their attacking options with the additions of Felix and Santiago Gimenez.

Mexico striker Gimenez joined for a reported €32 million ($33.1 million) plus add-ons from Feyenoord, where he netted 65 goals in two and a half seasons.

The Rossoneri, currently eighth in Serie A, also brought in attacking midfielder Warren Bondo from Monza for €10 million and forward Riccardo Sottil on loan from Fiorentina. On the departure front, Ismael Bennacer moved to Marseille, and Noah Okafor signed for Napoli.

“Monday was a very intense, interesting day. We did a good job, what we wanted to do,” said Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Gimenez’s presentation press conference on Tuesday.

“We’re satisfied, this will be the team which turns things around.”

AC Milan find themselves seven points adrift of the Serie A top four and 19 points behind league leaders Napoli after a thrilling draw in Sunday’s derby against Inter Milan.

Their struggles extend to European competition, as a recent loss to Dinamo Zagreb denied them direct qualification to the Champions League last 16. Instead, Milan will now face a play-off round, with their first-leg tie against Feyenoord scheduled for next week.

Before that crucial match, Milan have a packed schedule. They host Roma in the Italian Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, followed by an away trip to Empoli in Serie A over the weekend.
