Chelsea Football Club have appointed Enzo Maresca as the club’s new head coach.

The London club announced Maresca’s arrival in a statement on the club’s website on Monday.

The Italian manager would resume at Stamford Bridge after signing a five-year deal with an option of a one-year extension.

“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Enzo Maresca as new head coach of the men’s team,” the statement reads.

The Blues will be the second top job in Maresca’s short managerial career. He was appointed head coach at Leicester City in June 2023.

In his first season in charge, he guided the club to the English Football League (EFL) Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.

Before that, he had worked as an assistant coach at Manchester City, Sevilla, West Ham and Parma.

Maresca’s staff will include Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javi Molina and Roberto Vitiello.

Ben Roberts will join the staff as goalkeeper coach, while Bernardo Cueva will resume as set-piece coach.

Maresca replaces Mauricio Pochettino, who quit the role last month.

According to Chelsea, both parties “mutually agreed to part ways”.
