Chelsea sack Rosenior after poor run
Chelsea FC have dismissed manager Liam Rosenior after a run of five consecutive Premier League defeats, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old had spent just over three months in charge after leaving RC Strasbourg, which shares ownership links with Chelsea’s American investors.
A 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday proved decisive. The defeat marked Chelsea’s first sequence of five straight league losses without scoring since 1912 and left them seven points outside the Champions League qualification spots.
In a statement, the club said they had ended Rosenior’s tenure despite his professionalism, citing performances and results that fell short of expectations at a crucial stage of the season.
Chelsea appointed Calum McFarlane as interim manager, with his first assignment set to be an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United on Sunday.
