Chelsea set to sign Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu

Chelsea have reached a preliminary agreement to trigger the £5m release clause for Barcelona’s young talent Marc Guiu.

The Blues are preparing to arrange a medical in London for the 18-year-old striker.

Barcelona reportedly tried to remove the modest release clause from Guiu’s contract by offering an extension.

However, after a week of negotiations with his agency, Chelsea are on the verge of signing the Spain Under-19 international to strengthen their attack.

A product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Guiu made an immediate impact by scoring just 23 seconds into his debut against Athletic Bilbao in 2023.

Guiu, known for his power and speed as a number nine, has limited experience with two goals in seven senior matches.

He is expected to be a first-team addition, though Chelsea might still pursue more attacking signings this summer.

Additionally, Aston Villa’s Omari Kellyman, 18, is set to join Chelsea for £19m on a five-year contract, with an option for an additional year after completing his medical this week.
