Chelsea have finalized the £5 million acquisition of Barcelona’s teenage talent Marc Guiu, signing him to a five-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Last week, the Blues agreed in principle to activate Guiu’s £5 million release clause for the 18-year-old striker.
Barcelona had reportedly attempted to remove the modest release clause from Guiu’s contract by offering him an extension.
Nevertheless, Chelsea have successfully secured the signing of the Spain Under-19s forward to enhance their attacking options.
A graduate of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, Guiu made a memorable debut by scoring just 23 seconds into his first match against Athletic Bilbao in 2023.
Guiu is noted for his strength and speed as a number nine, although he has limited experience, having scored twice in his seven senior appearances.
He is expected to join the first team, although Enzo Maresca’s side is not ruling out the possibility of bringing in additional attackers this summer.
