Chelsea will block loan moves in bid to sell Lukaku

Chelsea will reject any loan offers for Romelu Lukaku this summer, seeking instead to sell the Belgium striker in a permanent deal.

They aim to recoup some of the £97.5 million they paid Inter Milan for him in 2021, with an asking price around £37 million, as the club looks to offload the 31-year-old’s £325,000-a-week wages.

Roma, where Lukaku spent last season on loan, are interested in re-signing him but cannot meet the asking price. AC Milan and Napoli, now managed by Lukaku’s former coach Antonio Conte, are also reportedly interested.

However, the Italian clubs have limited finances and will need to see if Chelsea relax their stance later in the transfer window.

Napoli were also rumored to consider a swap deal for striker Victor Osimhen, but Chelsea are not interested in the Nigerian, who is valued at over £100 million.

Chelsea had accepted a bid for Lukaku from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal last summer, but the forward rejected the move.
