Cole Palmer extends Chelsea contract by two years
Cole Palmer has signed a new contract with Chelsea, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is now committed to a nine-year deal with improved terms following a remarkable breakthrough season in west London.
Palmer scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances during his first season at Chelsea, after his £42.5 million transfer from Manchester City last summer.
Chelsea has been eager to reward the England international, who scored in the 2-1 Euro 2024 final defeat by Spain in July, with a new deal, which will be officially announced in the coming days.
Palmer is also on the shortlist for the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards, which will be announced in Salford next week. He claimed the Premier League Young Player of the Season award for 2023-24.
Chelsea will face Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League season on Sunday.
Manager Enzo Maresca will begin his campaign against his former team, where he won the treble in the 2022-23 season as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
Last season, Maresca led Leicester City back to the Premier League by winning the Championship title.
