Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah is set to complete a permanent move to Serie A side Como after the two clubs agreed a deal worth €30 million plus €3 million in add-ons, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The agreement brings an end to lengthy negotiations between the clubs, with Como making a final improved offer that convinced Chelsea to sanction the transfer.
Chalobah is expected to arrive in Italy between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning local time to undergo a medical before signing his contract.
The 27-year-old academy graduate is set to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis after spending his entire professional career with Chelsea, apart from loan spells earlier in his development.
Como, who have been ambitious in the transfer market, view Chalobah as a key addition to strengthen their defence ahead of the new Serie A season.
The move also continues Chelsea’s squad restructuring, with the Blues offloading senior players as they reshape the squad under their current project.
If the medical is completed without complications, Chalobah’s transfer to Como is expected to be officially announced in the coming days.
