Sundowns took the lead in the 24th minute through Melinda Kgadiete, who capitalized on an assist from Karabo Dlamini. The South Africans held onto their slim advantage until stoppage time, when Emem Essien’s late equalizer shattered their hopes of defending the title.
Needing a win to advance, Edo Queens delivered the decisive blow in the final moments of added time. Mary Mamudu exploited poor defending from a set piece, firing home the winning goal and sealing a memorable triumph for the Nigerians.
