The invitation of Hatayaspor midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the national team squad for the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique has brought excitement among some fans.
The Nigeria Football Federation on Monday unveiled the roster of selected players put forth by Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, with the 22-year-old being the sole newcomer in the squad.
Nigeria is set to face the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in Portimão, Portugal, on Friday, October 13, followed by a match against Mozambique in the same city three days later.
The 22-year-old has been performing exceptionally well for his Turkish club, tallying four goals and providing two assists in seven matches.
His call-up has ignited excitement among fans, as they see him as the crucial element the Eagles’ midfield has been lacking.
Moolah wrote on X, “Great to see Fisayo Dele-Bashiru make the list. He could be the tonic we need in that midfield. Sad for Gift Orban, he is yet to fully regain form after his last injury. Great list and kudos to NFF for the friendlies.”
Martins also added, “Very good, the invitation of Fisayo Bashiru, he is a very good, attacking, creative midfielder, a goal-scoring midfielder.”
“Very good midfielder, nice addition, the coach is really getting ready for AFCON, look into goalkeeping department too.”
Emeka Chi wrote, “Since Aribo dropped form, Alex Iwobi has been the only creative player and I believe the addition of Fisayo will bring more quality to the team. This is the best invitation in a very long time.”
Dele-Bashiru is set to join the Eagles next week, along with the rest of the players, who are scheduled to arrive in Faro, Portugal, on Tuesday, October 10th.
