Delta win 4th National Youth Games in Ilorin
Team Delta on Sunday emerged as winners of the 4th National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State.
To rule the competition, the defending champions won 27 gold, 24 silver and 16 bronze.
Lagos State came second with 23 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze while Team Bayelsa and Ogun were joint winners of the third position with a total of 34 medals consisting of 11 gold, seven silver and 16 bronze each. Akwa Ibom and Abia came fourth and fifth respectively
Team Kwara placed ninth with five gold, nine silver and four bronze.
Team Adamawa won one bronze to come last.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Olusade Adesola, said during the closing ceremony of the event the major objective of the Games was to discover new athletes.
Meanwhile, Team Bayelsa won all the seven gold in the golf event at the Games, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Team Delta placed second with three silver, two bronze while Plateau took third with three silver.
Fourth in the table are Team Akwa Ibom with one silver, two bronze while Team Rivers placed fifth with three bronze.
