Doucoure nets goal after 10 seconds as Everton whip Leicester City
Everton produced a stunning performance, scoring twice in the first six minutes, including the fourth-fastest goal in Premier League history, to crush Leicester City 4-0 at Goodison Park.
The match, a vital relegation battle, saw the Toffees take a commanding 10-point lead over the relegation zone, while Leicester found themselves in deeper trouble, now firmly in the bottom three.
Abdoulaye Doucoure opened the scoring just 10.18 seconds in, capitalizing on a long ball from Jordan Pickford to slide in a low finish. The goal was the fastest ever scored by Everton in the Premier League and the fourth quickest in history, behind only Shane Long, Philip Billing, and Ledley King.
Things got worse for Leicester just minutes later, as Beto exploited static defending, latching onto a through ball from James Tarkowski to make it 2-0. The Foxes were all over the place and fortunate not to fall further behind when Jake O’Brien’s effort was ruled offside.
Before the break, Everton put the game to bed as James Garner’s through ball sliced through Leicester’s defense, allowing Beto to side-foot home a calm finish for a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Everton continued to dominate, with Iliman Ndiaye adding a fourth goal late on to secure their third consecutive win.
David Moyes’ return to Everton, which began with a home defeat to Aston Villa, has since been a remarkable turnaround. The team has now won three in a row against Tottenham, Brighton, and Leicester, climbing to 15th in the table and away from relegation danger.
Under Moyes, the Toffees have found their attacking rhythm, scoring eight goals in their last three matches. Doucoure’s blistering start and Beto’s clinical finishing were key, while the defense remained resolute, with Everton now boasting nine clean sheets this season—more than all but Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, who they will face next.
