D’Tigers head coach Abdulrahaman Mohammed has announced a formidable 12-man squad for the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying series.
The lineup is anchored by seasoned guard and 2015 Afrobasket winner Stanley Okoye, the team’s most experienced member.
The selection features a mix of foreign-based professionals and local standouts, underscoring Nigeria’s ongoing dedication to developing homegrown talent.
Among those chosen are three players from the domestic league, including two members of recently crowned Nigerian champions Lagos Legends – Chinkpa Garba and Obekpa Chris – along with Paul Dibal of Gboko City Chiefs, whose strong performances secured his inclusion.
D’Tigers have already traveled to Tunisia, the host nation for the qualifiers.
Nigeria has been placed in Group C, where they will take on Rwanda, Guinea, and Tunisia.
The road to the 2027 FIBA World Cup will span five qualification windows, running from November 2025 through February 2027. Sixteen teams that earned spots in FIBA AfroBasket 2025 have been divided into four groups of four.
