D’Tigress, the Nigerian senior women’s basketball team, have qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Nigerians defeated Egypt 83-65 in their second group D on Sunday.
In what looked like a one-sided encounter, D’Tigress led 18-10 in the first quarter at the BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda.
The second quarter was not different from the first as the Nigerian side extended their lead to 42-23 to end the first half.
In a turnaround, Egypt took the third quarter 19-14 before D’Tigress wrapped up the encounter with 27-23 — and the game overall 83-65.
The Nigerian women’s basketball team has won the last three editions of the AfroBasket tournament — claiming the continental title five times.
