The Super Eagles B squad is set to reconvene next week to continue preparations for their two-legged 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana in December.
The team held its initial training session in Abuja on Wednesday, concluding for the week on Thursday, after which the players returned to their respective clubs to participate in this weekend’s Nigeria Professional Football League fixtures.
During the two-day training, the players displayed promising skills, earning praise from Super Eagles interim coach and Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Augustine Eguavoen, who expressed his satisfaction with the squad’s performance so far.
“Very impressive – only two training sessions, but you can see that technically, they’re very good,” Eguavoen commented on NFF TV.
He added, “There’s still a lot of work to do, as they’re coming from different clubs. We’ll need to work on blending them into a cohesive unit.”
Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg between 20th and 22nd December 2024, with the return leg taking place in Nigeria a week later.
The winner on aggregate will secure automatic qualification for the 2025 CHAN tournament, to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
