Enugu Rangers suffer attack in Jos after match against Plateau United

The team bus of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu was attacked by suspected Plateau United fans on Sunday following a goalless draw between the two teams on Match Day 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League in Jos.

Several coaches and players of the Flying Antelopes sustained injuries during the attack, with viral videos and photos on social media showing some of them bleeding.

Rangers’ General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, confirmed the incident in a statement, describing it as unwarranted. He stated that the club is taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served.

Ezeaku added that Rangers has already filed a petition with the relevant authorities and will persist until the matter is fully addressed and resolved.

The statement read, “We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served. A petition has been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we will not rest until this issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.

“Under this administration, the symbol of our great Club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honor and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.

“We also want to assure you that our team members are safe and will be arriving in Enugu today. Your unwavering support and prayers mean the world to us during these challenging times. Thank you for standing by us as we continue to uphold the spirit of Rangers.

“Your dedication motivates us to push forward, and we remain committed to representing our great club with pride and integrity.”
