Enyimba FC have parted ways with Head Coach Yemi Olarenwaju following a dismal run of form for the People’s Elephant.
The record Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions went nine matches without a win, prompting the decision to dismiss Olarenwaju.
“Enyimba FC can confirm that it has parted ways with Head Coach Yemi Olarenwaju,” the club announced in a Saturday statement on their social media platforms.
“The club thanks Coach Olarenwaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”
The former coach was appointed in May after George Finidi’s underwhelming tenure with the Super Eagles. Olarenwaju oversaw 26 matches, achieving nine wins and seven losses.
The sack comes after a goalless draw with Plateau United in the NPFL, leaving the Aba-based club 11th in the league with 23 points from 15 matches.
On the continental stage, Enyimba’s struggles continue as they sit bottom of Group D in the CAF Confederation Cup with just one point from three games.
Enyimba have named Stanley Eguma as their new head coach. Eguma, a key figure in Enyimba’s historic CAF Champions League victories in the early 2000s, is tasked with reviving the club’s fortunes both domestically and in continental competitions.
