EPL: Arsenal thrash West Ham, extend lead

Arsenal extended lead at the top of the English Premier League on Boxing Day after thrashing West Ham 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

The gunners have now opened seven points gap at the top as the second placed team Newcastle United have 33 points.

The homers fell behind on 27th minute at the Emirates from the penalty spot. Mohamed Said Benrahma took a real chance, but his penalty which struck right into the middle of the net fooled Aaron Ramsdale in goal.

Arsenal equalised few minutes after the break. Martin Odegaard provided Bukayo Saka with a nice pass inside the box. It allowed him to finish with a precise effort into the bottom left corner to make it 1-1.

The Gunners were in front on 58th minutes. Granit Xhaka was in a good shooting position, but he saw his teammate and passed the ball to him. Gabriel Martinelli took it nicely and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot into the bottom left corner to make the score 2-1.

Arsenal got their third goal on 69th minute. Martin Odegaard played in Eddie Nketiah, who showed great determination to get to the ball before a couple of defenders and from inside the box slotted it into the bottom left corner.
