EPL: I am motivated to help Southampton escape relegation – Onuachu
Paul Onuachu is committed to keeping Southampton in the Premier League at the end of the current campaign.
Onuachu joined the Saints on the final day of the transfer window from KRC Genk of the Belgian Pro League.
The 28-year-old made his debut in the 3-0 defeat at Brentford at the weekend.
After the break, the Nigerian international took over for Mohamed Elyounoussi and contributed positively to the match despite his team’s loss.
Onuachu is adamant that he can help Southampton move up the standings despite the fact that the South Coast club is in last place on the table and is fighting hard to avoid relegation.
“I’m very motivated, it’s a huge challenge,” he told the club’s official website.
“Coming here we are last on the table and everybody is working to really try to leave the relegation zone.
“It’s a huge challenge, not just for me but for everybody in the team. I’m going to give it all if I have the chance to play, and try to help the team to survive.”
Nathan Jones’ side will host Wolverhampton Wanders in their next league game on Saturday.
