Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has tipped Victor Osimhen to add a strong physical presence to the Gunners’ attack should the Nigerian striker make a move to the club.

Petit was assessing Arsenal’s attacking options when he mentioned Osimhen as a possible alternative to Julián Alvarez. The Napoli striker is reportedly valued at about £100m.

Speaking in an interview with a British sports journalist and presenter affiliated with Oddschecker and WhoScored, monitored by PUNCH Online on Friday, Petit said Osimhen and Alvarez possess different attributes, but believes the Nigerian could offer Arsenal more physical strength in the final third.

“Next one for Arsenal then is Victor Osimhen at £100 million,” Petit said.

“They are different players. Not the same quality as Alvarez, but he will bring a powerful presence up front.”

The former France international also pointed to Osimhen’s speed, determination and character as qualities that could make him a valuable attacking option for Arsenal.

“He’s fast, he’s a fighter, he’s got a bad temper as well, a strong personality,” the former France international added.

Petit maintained that Osimhen would offer a different profile from Alvarez, while stressing that either striker could prove useful to Arsenal.

“So, he will bring something different from Alvarez, but it’s two different options. Both of them are good,” he said.

Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s top forwards, with his pace, physical strength and ability to exploit space making him a constant threat in the final third.

A transfer to Arsenal would provide the Nigerian with another chance to compete at the highest level in the Premier League, while his powerful playing style could give Mikel Arteta’s attack an additional dimension.
