Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has stated that Mohamed Salah’s future at the club is something to be resolved between the player and Liverpool, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Egypt forward’s return.

Speaking to BBC Sports on Tuesday, Szoboszlai said, “That’s between him and me. He will come back, and then we keep on going. It’s the decision between the manager and the club.”

The Hungary international also disclosed that he has remained in frequent contact with Salah since leaving Merseyside on 15 December.

“Yes, to be honest, almost every day. We speak about everything. I’m following him; I guess he is following me. We talk a lot,” he said.

Salah, who is 33, recently sparked speculation about his future after indicating in an interview that his relationship with manager Arne Slot had deteriorated.

Liverpool are expected to announce on Tuesday whether the forward will be included in the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Marseille.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot said last week that he was “happy” to have Salah back, a sentiment reflected in Saturday’s draw with Burnley.

During the match, Liverpool registered 32 shots, with 11 on target, but managed just one goal despite recording an expected goals (xG) figure of 2.95.

Szoboszlai also missed a penalty in the game.

“That’s the first time we have played really well against a low block and created a lot of chances,” the attacking midfielder said.

Slot added: “We had loads of guys in the box, we had crosses and shots. That is what we have to aim for against Marseille, but they don’t have a low block, they try to play from the back, and we have to be ready for this too.”
