Romelu Lukaku found the net as Roma secured a draw against Feyenoord in the first leg of the Europa League knockout round play-off.

The Belgium striker, under Daniele de Rossi’s management, nodded in an equalizer from a cross by Leonardo Spinazzola.

This leveled the score after Feyenoord had initially taken the lead through Igor Paixao’s header. Feyenoord came close to securing victory towards the end when Luka Ivanusec’s shot struck the post.

In the Europa League play-off round, teams that finished second in their groups face off against those who finished third in their Champions League groups.

The winners from this round advance to meet the group winners of the Europa League in the last 16.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal and Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 30th Europa League goal, equalling a record, as Marseille drew 2-2 with Shakhtar Donetsk in Hamburg.

Aubameyang opened the scoring for Marseille in the 64th minute, but Mykola Matvienko capitalized on a defensive error to level the score for the Ukrainian side, who were playing their first competitive match in two months.

Iliman Ndiaye appeared to secure victory for the French side in the final minute, but teenager Eguinaldo’s header in injury time salvaged a draw for Shakhtar.

Aubameyang joined Radamel Falcao at the top of the leaderboard with 30 goals each in the competition since its reconfiguration in 2009 from its former iteration as the UEFA Cup.

In another match, Mauro Icardi scored a late winning goal as Galatasaray triumphed 3-2 over Sparta Prague, with both teams finishing with 10 players.

Kerem Demirbay initially gave the Turkish hosts the lead, countered by Angelo Preciado’s equalizer, a sublime first-time strike from the edge of the box. Dries Mertens then restored Galatasaray’s lead, but shortly after, Victor Nelsson was shown a red card for a professional foul. Jan Kuchta equalized soon after, before Matej Rynes was also sent off for two yellow card offenses. Icardi clinched the victory with a strike from the edge of the box.

Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon secured a 3-1 victory over Young Boys, courtesy of an Aurele Amenda own goal, a Viktor Gyokeres penalty, and a Goncalo Inacio effort. Filip Ugrinic had scored for Young Boys to make it 2-1, with the Swiss side ending the match with Mohamed Ali Camara being sent off late on.
