The manager of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that Dani Vivian’s red card was pivotal in their dominant 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final.

The LaLiga team was down to 10 players before halftime following the dismissal. Casemiro opened the scoring with a header, after which the referee reviewed an incident on the VAR monitor.

A penalty was granted, and Bruno Fernandes converted it, adding a third goal later in the match.

Amorim, speaking to TNT Sports, said: “The result is really good, but we have to understand the result at the same time.

“We struggled a lot at the beginning and the sending off changed the game.

“Any game can change with one situation. We had an opportunity to score one more. This is not done and they can do the same at Old Trafford.”
