Evans in talks with Manchester United over new deal

Manchester United are currently engaged in discussions with defender Jonny Evans regarding the possibility of extending his tenure at the club.

The 36-year-old rejoined United last summer from Leicester City, marking his return to Old Trafford eight years after his initial departure.

Initially, the Northern Ireland international joined the club’s pre-season training to maintain his fitness. However, his impressive performance caught the attention of manager Erik ten Hag, resulting in a one-year contract offer.

During the past season, Evans made 30 appearances for United, notably featuring as a substitute in the FA Cup victory against Manchester City at Wembley.

Additionally, the club has confirmed ongoing negotiations with goalkeeper Tom Heaton regarding a contract extension, while a new deal has been proposed to Omari Forson.

Forson, aged 19 and hailing from London, made his Premier League debut in February’s 4-3 triumph against Wolves, contributing an assist for Kobbie Mainoo’s winning goal at Molineux.

Despite making six more appearances, Forson has yet to commit to a new contract with the club.

Furthermore, Brandon Williams, Anthony Martial, and Raphael Varane are set to be released on June 30 upon the expiration of their contracts.

Williams, who spent the previous season on loan at Ipswich, has been sidelined since December 29 due to injury, leading to his return to United. His last appearance for the club dates back to September 2022.
