Everton beat Man Utd to boost survival hopes

Everton secured what could prove a priceless victory in their battle to avoid relegation as lackluster Manchester United were beaten at Goodison Park.

Everton fans have taken to social media to praise Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi for his performance in the match.

Frank Lampard’s side were plunged into even deeper crisis when they lost at fellow strugglers Burnley in midweek to leave them facing the prospect of dropping into the bottom three this weekend if results went against them.

In a game low on quality but high in tension, Everton’s victory came courtesy of Anthony Gordon’s 27th-minute drive, which took a heavy deflection off United captain Harry Maguire to leave keeper David de Gea wrong-footed.

Iwobi was brilliant in the game, he was involved in the build-up to Everton’s goal, and he helped in defense. The Nigeria international had two interceptions, one tackle, and one clearance.

The Super Eagles star has been consistent for Everton recently. The last time Everton won a game, Iwobi scored the crucial goal against Newcastle.
