Everton has expressed interest in acquiring midfielder Kalvin Phillips on a season-long loan agreement from Premier League titleholders Manchester City.
Phillips, who transferred from Leeds to City for £45m in 2022, has encountered difficulties in making an impact and spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at West Ham.
Although the 28-year-old was a member of the England squad that reached the 2020 European Championship final, he has fallen out of favor under manager Gareth Southgate and did not make the roster for this summer’s tournament.
Additionally, Everton is in negotiations to bring back winger Jack Harrison from Championship side Leeds on another loan deal. Harrison, aged 27, participated in 35 matches and netted four goals for the Toffees last season.
Earlier this month, Everton’s director of football, Kevin Thelwell, indicated that players would be sold this summer due to the club’s financial circumstances, and new additions to the squad would be secured through the “utilization of the loan market.”
