Ex-Arsenal star, Nicklas Bendtner squanders N2.5billion on poker
Former Arsenal star, Nicklas Bendtner has confessed frittering away £5.4million, about N2.5billion gambling.
He wasted the money on poker, to which he was addicted.
Bendtner revealed the details of his addiction on his Danish reality television show alongside his model girlfriend, Philine Roepstorff.
He told viewers that he blew large portions of his wages on Texas Hold’Em as a 19-year-old boy but has learnt from his mistakes.
‘I lost a lot of money, an unrealistic amount’, admitted Bendtner, according to Mail Online.
‘It’s hard to say how much it was in reality, but I’d estimate that it was almost 50 million Korona (around £5.4m).
“It was something that I was always in control of and I simply betted big sums of money.
‘Sometimes in London, things would get out of control on a night and things could really have ended badly
‘Now I place smaller bets of 100 Korona (around £12).’
Bendtner spent nine years in Arsenal, after graduating from their academy in 2005.
However, he spent some of the years on loan at Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus.
He left in 2014 to join Wolfsburg.
Since then, he has signed for Copenhagen which is his city of origin, but has only played a total of eight times this year.
