Ex-premier league star imprisoned for failing to pay child support

Former Premier League player Bosko Balaban is set to face imprisonment for violating a court order and failing to fulfill his child support obligations to his ex-wife.

Balaban is most notable for his tenure with the Belgian club Club Brugge, where he spent four years and made 58 appearances. However, his stint in England was unremarkable, with just eight appearances.

In 2002, during his stint in the Premier League, Bosko Balaban tied the knot with Iva Radic, who held the title of Miss Croatia 1995. The couple welcomed three children before parting ways through divorce in 2017.

Ex-PL star Balaban jailed

Former Premier League star Balaban has now been sentenced to one year in prison, according to reports. This ruling comes as a consequence of his violation of court orders and failure to pay £70,000 in child support owed to his ex-wife.

Despite being provided with a specified timeframe for payment, he declined to comply, leading to a one-year prison sentence along with four years suspended, even if the owed amount was settled.

According to reports, Balaban retired from professional football in 2015 and transitioned into the role of an agent. In this capacity, he represents his fellow countryman and former Leicester City forward, Andrej Kramaric.
