Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been appointed as the new head coach of Napoli on a three-year deal.
The 54-year-old has not managed since leaving Spurs by mutual consent in March 2023 after 16 months in charge.
Despite a challenging stint in north London, Conte has had a distinguished coaching career, winning the Premier League in his first season at Chelsea (2016-17) and the FA Cup in his second before being dismissed in 2018.
“Napoli is a place of global importance. I am happy and excited at the idea of sitting on the blue bench,” said Conte, who guided Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in 11 years in 2021.
“I can certainly promise one thing, I will do my utmost for the growth of the team and the club. My commitment, together with that of my staff, it will be total.”
Conte also led Juventus to three consecutive Serie A titles from 2011 to 2014.
Napoli, who won Serie A last year for the first time in 33 years, have struggled to replicate that success and finished tenth in the league.
Their poor form led to Slovakia boss Francesco Calzona joining the club in February on a short-term deal until the end of the season, following the sacking of manager Walter Mazzarri after just three months in charge.
In Serie A, former Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano has been appointed as Bologna’s new manager after their qualification for the Champions League.
Thiago Motta, who guided Bologna to a fifth-place finish in the 2023-24 season, left the club at the end of the campaign and is expected to become the next Juventus manager.
